Chaz Palla | Tribune-Review Alex Turowski tees off on the 10th during the Westmoreland County Junior Amateur golf tournament June 18, 2020 at Latrobe Country Club.

Alex Turowski, a sophomore at Fairmont State, was honored by the Mountain East Conference following his second round at the MEC Spring Classic at Edgewood Country Club.

The Penn-Trafford graduate earned MEC honorable mention honors.

The All-MEC men’s golf team is selected based on individual performances by players during five rounds of MEC sponsored play during the 2022-23 season. The first three rounds of MEC play took place from Oct. 3-5, at Avalon Golf and Country Club in Warren, Ohio, during the 2022 MEC Golf Championships. The final two rounds were played this spring at Edgewood Country Club during the 2023 MEC Spring Classic.

Turowski finished tied for eighth after he had one birdie in his first round and fired three birdies in round two.

Little, Clelland shine in PSAC

Penn-Trafford grads Emma Little and Brooke Cleland had big seasons playing in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Little, who plays at Bloomsburg, was named an Eastern Division All-Conference first-team utility player. Her teammate, sophomore pitcher Callie Sowers (Hempfield), was named to the second team.

Little batted .324 with 32 runs batted in, eight doubles, four home runs and 18 walks. Sowers had 14 wins and an earned run average of 2.77.

Cleland, a Seton Hill outfielder, batted .339 with 38 hits, six doubles and six home runs. She had 25 RBIs and homered in the PSAC tournament against Shippensburg.

Obremski playing PGA LatinoAmerica Tour

Penn-Trafford grad Dan Obremski qualified for his second consecutive PGA Tour LatinoAmerica event.

Obremski played in the Diners Club Peru Open in Lima, Peru.

Obremski played baseball in high school, but he had too many doubles and one triple during his two rounds which aren’t good for golfers.

He shot a 77 in Round 1 and an 80 in Round 2 and finished 13-over par. He did have an eagle on No. 3.

On Monday, Obremski shot a 1-under par 71 in a qualifier and earned a spot in the KIA Open in Quito, Ecuador.

Obremski, who is teaching golf in Florida, decided to return to the tour.
