Penn State and West Virginia are among the teams scheduled to play as part of a quadrupleheader basketball event Dec. 13 in Brooklyn.

The Nittany Lions are to face Florida, and the Mountaineers are to play Purdue as part of the second annual Basketball Hall of Fame Invitational at Barclays Center.

Other games scheduled for that day at that venue are Stanford against Georgia Tech and Army vs. Princeton. Tip-off times and the order of the games have not been announced yet.

“We love being able to play in front of our Penn State alumni and fans in New York City and we’re looking forward to being part of this exciting slate of games,” PSU coach Patrick Chambers said in a statement released by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The most recent meeting between the Nittany Lions and Gators was also in New York City — the 2009 NIT final won by Penn State.

West Virginia adds the game against Purdue, which has made each of the past five NCAA tournaments, to previously announced matchups outside of the Big 12 that include Pitt, Robert Morris and other opponents as part of the Big East/Big 12 Battle and SEC/Big 12 Challenge.

“Anytime you have the opportunity to play a team like Purdue and the opportunity to play in a special nonconference event, you jump on it,” West Virginia coach Bob Huggins said in a statement. “We love playing in New York and our fans love when we play in New York.”
