The Pittsburgh Penguins made a move up in the draft to select a high-scoring winger Saturday afternoon.
The Penguins traded picks in the fourth, fifth and seventh rounds to Arizona to move into the third round. They used the 74th overall pick on winger Nathan Legare of Baie-Comeau in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Legare, 6-foot, 205 pounds, is a shooter. He had 45 goals and 87 points in 68 games last season.
According to hockeyprospect.com. Legare’s greatest attribute is his shot. He uses is frequently and his release is high end. He’s not known as a strong skater, and he doesn’t play particularly physically for a winger his size.
After the trade, the Penguins are left with one pick in the fifth round and one in the seventh.
With their first-round pick Friday night, they took power forward Samuel Poulin.
