The Penguins are expected to start goaltender Tristan Jarry for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes at PPG Paints Arena.

In 32 games this season, Jarry has a 20-11-1 record along with a 2.32 goals against average, a .924 save percentage and three shutouts.

Jarry is in the midst of a three-game losing streak. During that stretch, he has a 4.03 goals against average and .850 save percentage.

Notes:

• In six games with the Penguins, forward Patrick Marleau has been limited to one assist. He has recorded at least one shot in all six of his games since joining the team via trade on Nov. 24. During Saturday’s 5-2 home loss to the Washington Capitals, Marleau had two shots.

Despite scant offensive production, coaches have been satisfied with Marleau’s play.

“He’s getting more comfortable,” Sullivan said. “He’s played well, he just hasn’t scored. He’s gotten a significant amount of scoring chances when he’s been playing with (forward Evgeni) Malkin. But he’s also a conscientious player. He’s good on the boards, he does other things for that line as well. We think he’s played well. He’s getting more comfortable with every game that he plays.”

• The Hurricanes are the final team the Penguins have yet to play this season.

• The Hurricanes are expected to start goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic. In three games this season, Nedeljovic has a 0-2-1 record along with a 3.46 goals against average, and an .866 goals against average.

• Hurricanes rookie forward Morgan Geekie is expected to make his NHL debut.

• Hurricanes forward Nino Niederreiter has played in 599 career games.
