Penguins to start goaltender Casey DeSmith against Devils

The Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Casey DeSmith for Saturday’s home game against the New Jersey Devils at PPG Paints Arena.

His status was annouced via a statement from the team.

In 18 games this season, DeSmith has a 10-6-0 record along with a 2.44 goals against average, a .911 save percentage and two shutouts.

DeSmith has largely struggled over his past four games, going 1-3-0 with a 4.70 goals against average and an .828 save percentage.

Note:

• Penguins defenseman John Marino is slated to appear in his 100th career game.

• The Devils are expected to start Mackenzie Blackwood. He has missed the past two games due to an undisclosed injury.

In 27 games this season, Blackwood has a 9-16-3 record along with a 3.10 goals against average, a .900 save percentage and one shutout.
