Penguins to start goaltender Casey DeSmith against Bruins again

Penguins goaltender Casey DeSmith is scheduled to get his second consecutive start Saturday afternoon in a road contest against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.

DeSmith will be backed up by reserve goaltender Maxime Lagace. According to a statement issued by the team, top goaltender Tristan Jarry will not dress for the second consecutive game due to an undisclosed injury.

During Thursday’s 4-1 road win against the Bruins, DeSmith made 30 saves on 31 shots.

In 14 games this season, DeSmith has a 9-3-0 record along with a 1.84 goals against average and a .933 save percentage.

Notes:

• The team did not provide any status on injured forward Teddy Blueger in regards to Saturday’s game. He has missed the past nine games due to an undisclosed injury and remains on injured reserve. In 28 games this season, Blueger has 15 points (four goals, 11 assists).

• Rookie forward Radim Zohorna was assigned from the taxi squad to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL). In two NHL games this season, Zohorna has one goal.

• Forward Justin Almeida and defenseman Will Reilly were recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to the taxi squad.

In three AHL games this season, Almeida has one goal.

Reilly has played in 14 AHL games this season and has four points (two goals, two assists).

• The Bruins are scheduled to start goaltender Jaroslav Halak. In 16 games this season, Halak has an 8-5-3 record along with a 2.27 goals against average, a .916 save percentage and two shutouts.
