The Penguins will resume skating on a voluntary basis Tuesday at their practice facility in Cranberry.
With the NHL on hiatus since March 12 because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Penguins and all NHL teams have not played, practiced or even skated in any sort of organized fashion for nearly three months.
These sessions will be part of the NHL’s second phase for returning to play and will not be open to the public or media. Each session will be limited to six players and a handful of staffers on the ice.
According to the team, all players and staff permitted inside the facility will be tested for the coronavirus prior to participation. Additionally, medical evaluations for players who test negative will be held Monday.
The NHL is aiming to complete the 2019-20 season with a 24-team postseason tournament throughout the late parts of summer.
