The Pittsburgh Penguins will open their preseason schedule Monday, Sept. 16, against the Buffalo Sabres at Penn State’s Pegula Ice Arena.

It will be the second visit to the arena for the Penguins, who faced Buffalo there in 2017. The game will count as a home game for the Sabres, who are owned by Terry Pegula, the arena’s namesake.

The Penguins play three home preseason games, hosting Columbus on Thursday, Sept. 19, Detroit on Wednesday, Sept. 25 and Buffalo on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The home game against Buffalo, with a 3 p.m. start, will be team’s annual Free Game for Kids.

The Penguins also will play two other road games, visiting Columbus on Saturday, Sept. 21, and Detroit on Sunday, Sept. 22.

The team also announced it will open training camp Friday, Sept. 13, hold its annual prospect development camp June 26-28 and that it will again participate in the Buffalo rookie tournament Sept. 6-9.
