Penguins sign prospects Jordan Frasca, Taylor Gauthier
The Penguins added to their prospect pool on Tuesday by signing undrafted forward Jordan Frasca and goaltender Taylor Gauthier to three-year entry-level contracts.
Each deal begins in the 2022-23 season.
Frasca, 20, is currently a member of the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In 44 games this season, he leads that team with 32 goals while scoring 65 points overall.
A native of Caledon, Ont., the left-handed Frasca (6-foot-2, 184 pounds) has primarily served as the Frontenacs’ second-line center this season.
Gauthier, 21, has split the 2021-22 season between the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Prince George Cougars and Portland Winterhawks, currently coached by ex-Penguins coach Mike Johnston.
In 28 games this season, Gauthier has a 20-6-0 record, a 2.17 goals against average, a .932 save percentage and three shutouts.
A native of Calgary, the right-catching Gauthier (6-foot-2, 208 pounds) set a franchise record for Portland this season with a shutout sequence of 252:11.
