The Penguins have signed journeyman defenseman Taylor Fedun to a one-year, two-way contract worth the league minimum of $750,000.

Fedun, 33, spent most of the 2020-21 season on the Dallas’ Stars’ taxi squad and did not play in any NHL games. He was limited to two American Hockey League (AHL) games with the Texas Stars and did not record a point.

The right-hander figures to boost the starboard side of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ blue line following the retirement of Zach Trotman and the departure of Jon Lizotte, who signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Minnesota Wild.

Over seven NHL seasons, Fedun (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) has also played for the Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks and Buffalo Sabres. In 127 career games, he has scored 35 points (eight goals, 27 assists).
