NEW YORK – Over the past four seasons, Sidney Crosby has been one of the most consistent scorers in hockey. He recorded between 84 and 89 points each year.

It’s a trend Crosby is happy to break this season.

Crosby is fifth in the league with 93 points. With six games left, he has a chance to reach the 100-point mark for the sixth time in his career and the first time since 2013-14.

It’s a goal he’d like to reach.

“That would be good, to be around it and have an opportunity to get it,” Crosby said after morning skate Monday at Madison Square Garden. “I’m more worried about winning games, but I know that if I produce, that helps too.”

Crosby, 31, said he wasn’t worried that he had settled into the 84-89 point range in his second decade in the league and wouldn’t threaten triple digits again.

“Ninety is better than 89, I think, and 100 is better than 93,” he said. “If I can be around it, I’d definitely like to get it. Like I said, it doesn’t mean sacrificing anything to do that. I think that if we play the right way, I’ll have a shot at it.”
