In 29 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last season, defenseman Xavier Ouellet had 17 points (two goals, 15 assists).

The Penguins recalled defenseman Xavier Ouellet from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League Monday afternoon.

Ouellet, 30, is entering the second year of a two-year contract that carries a salary cap hit of $762,500. In one game this preseason, Ouellet has no points and one shot.

Last season, injuries limited the left-handed Ouellet to 29 games and 17 points (two goals, 15 assists) with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

On Friday, Ouellet cleared waivers and was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Earlier on Monday, the team recalled forwards Avery Hayes, Rem Pitlick and defenseman Ty Smith from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
