The Penguins finalized their season-opening 23-man roster as well as their taxi squad Monday.

The roster includes 13 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.

Forwards — Teddy Blueger, Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, Mark Jankowski, Kasperi Kapanen, Sam Lafferty, Evgeni Malkin, Jared McCann, Evan Rodrigues, Bryan Rust, Colton Sceviour, Brandon Tanev and Jason Zucker.

Defensemen — Cody Ceci, Brian Dumoulin, Kris Letang, John Marino, Mike Matheson, Marcus Pettersson, Juuso Riikola and Chad Ruhwedel.

Goaltenders — Casey DeSmith and Tristan Jarry.

Kapanen will join the roster when he completes his coronavirus quarantine protocol after arriving late for training camp because of immigration issues.

The six-man taxi squad includes three forwards, two goaltenders and one defenseman:

Forwards — Anthony Angello, Frederick Gaudreau, Drew O’Connor.

Defenseman — Pierre-Olivier Joseph.

Goaltender — Alex D’Orio, Maxime Lagace.

Gaudreau and Lagace as well defensemen Kevin Czuczman, Zach Trotman and forward Josh Currie cleared waivers.

Currie, Czuczman and defensemen Cam Lee were assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Forward Jordan Nolan, who was in training camp on a professional tryout basis, will report to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He is signed to an AHL contract to that team.

Forward prospects Nathan Legare and Sam Poulin will report to their junior teams, the Val-d’Or Foreurs and Sherbrooke Phoenix, respectively, in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

Trotman and forwards Zach Aston-Reese, Sam Miletic and defenseman Josh Maniscalco missed time during training camp and will be appropriately assigned Tuesday when rosters are submitted to the NHL.

Aston-Reese is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. Maniscalco, Miletic and Trotman have not participated in training camp since Saturday, when practice was canceled because of concerns about the coronavirus.

The team has not provided a reason for their absences.
