Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Jack St. Ivany will be sidelined for at least two months after undergoing surgery to address an unspecified left hand injury.

The team announced his status on Tuesday afternoon.

St. Ivany was injured during a 3-2 road win against the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. He did not record a shift beyond the 8:11 mark of the first period.

In 17 games this season, the right-handed St. Ivany has recorded a career-high seven points (all assists) while averaging 15:39 of ice time.

A suspected right foot injury suffered during a preseason game sidelined St. Ivany for the first 28 games of the regular season.

• The Penguins’ lines and pairings during a practice session in Cranberry were:

67 Rickard Rakell – 87 Sidney Crosby – 17 Bryan Rust

59 Egor Chinakhov – 18 Tommy Novak – 71 Evgeni Malkin
