Not every coach on the practice field at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex for the start of Pittsburgh Steelers minicamp on Tuesday was blowing a whistle or barking orders.

Mike Sullivan and the entire Penguins coaching staff, including assistants Jacques Martin and Mark Recchi, goalie coach Mike Buckley and video coach Andy Saucier, was on the sidelines for practice.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said the coaches of the pro sports teams in town have a good relationship.

“Those guys, we’ve got a lot of respect for them,” Mike Tomlin said. “We glean and learn from them. They learn from us. Lot of mutual respect and man, why wouldn’t you listen and learn from those guys? They’ve had a lot of success in their space, particularly of late.”
