Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin makes return from concussion
Brian Dumoulin was back in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ lineup for a game against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night, making his return from a concussion that kept him sidelined for nine days.
Dumoulin suffered the concussion when his head slammed into the glass after a hit from Philadelphia Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds during the outdoor game Feb. 23.
He was set to start a game on a defense pair with Zach Trotman, bumping Juuso Riikola from the lineup. The team’s other two pairs — Jack Johnson with Justin Schultz and Marcus Pettersson with Erik Gudbranson — remained unchanged.
While Dumoulin was out of the lineup, the Penguins went 2-0-1, allowing a total of seven goals in three games.
“I’ve watched every game and it’s been fun to watch,” Dumoulin said. “I wish I was out there with them and having fun with them, but they’ve definitely stepped it up and they’ve been playing really good hockey.”
