The Pittsburgh Penguins added to their depth chart in free agency Monday afternoon, signing defenseman David Warsofsky and forward Andrew Agozzino to two-year, two-way contracts.
Both players will be paid $700,000 when in the NHL.
Warsofsky, 29, spent the better part of two seasons in the Penguins organization from 2015-17, playing 19 NHL games and 75 AHL games. A 5-foot-9 left-handed shooter, Warsofsky spent last season with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles, recording 32 points in 51 games.
Agozzino, 28, has spent the first seven years of his pro career in the Colorado Avalanche organization, playing 21 games at the NHL level. Last season, the 5-10 left wing had 26 goals and 60 points in the AHL.
“David and Andrew are two guys that are going to provide great depth for our organization,” assistant general manager Bill Guerin said in a release. “They are both leaders that can help mentor some of our younger players. If there are injuries or trades, you need guys like David and Andrew, who have both NHL and AHL experience, to be able to come in and contribute. We’re lucky to get two guys with great experience in this role, and expect both of them to push to make the NHL roster out of training camp.”
