The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired forward Graham Knott in exchange for forward Joseph Cramarossa in a minor-league trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.
Knott, 22, was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. A second-round pick in the 2015 draft, he hasn’t panned out in three pro seasons. This year, he’s been with the ECHL’s Indy Fuel, recording five goals and nine points in 13 games.
When he was drafted, the 6-foot-4, 195-pound Knott was projected as a power forward who was willing to go to the net and had untapped offensive potential. He had a 25-goal season in juniors for Niagara of the OHL in 2014-15.
Cramarossa, 27, had two goals and an assist in nine games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season. He led the AHL club with 116 penalty minutes last year.
Due to AHL regulations that limit the number of veterans in the lineup for each game, Cramarossa wasn’t playing regularly in Wilkes-Barre. He was acquired from the Stockton Heat, a Calgary affiliate, in a 2018 AHL deal.
