Palmer Jackson is one of those rare, up-and-coming amateur golfers who has the uncanny ability to capture lightning in a bottle.

Just when you thought the recent Franklin Regional grad from Murrysville couldn’t get any better on the course, he started another hot streak.

Some might say Jackson’s favorite club is his 2-iron, but he prefers his home club the best.

Jackson, who will head to Notre Dame later this month, won the Hannastown Golf Club championship over the weekend with rounds of 66 and 67 for a scorching 36-hole total of 7-under-par 133.

Jackson now has carded seven consecutive rounds in the 60s. Just a few days prior to the club championship, he tied for seventh at the Junior PGA Championship with scores of 69-64-66 in Hartford, Conn. He finished at 15-under.

His other sub-70 round of late included a 67 in the second round of a U.S. Amateur qualifier at Quicksilver Golf Club in Midway.

Jackson will play in the U.S. Amateur Aug. 12-18 at Pinehurst (N.C.).

He also reached the Round of 16 at the U.S. Junior Amateur.
