It’s a special Girls Night Out edition of “Next on the Tee,” as host Chris Mascaro welcomes top 100 instructor Kellie Stenzel, co-host of the new Three Courses show on GolfNation.com Hannah Leiner, and eight-time Canadian Women’s World Long Drive Champion Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk.
Stenzel had a successful junior golf and college career. She won the 1982 New York state girls amateur championship and the 1986 New York state women’s amateur championship. At Furman, she helped the Lady Paladins to a second-place finish in the NCAA championship during her senior season. She is now annually one of Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America. During the segment, Stenzel shares tips for how to straighten out a slice, how to become a better chipper, and how to make center club face contact more consistently.
Leiner is a bright young star in the game. She played college golf at Florida International and is now the co-host of Golf Nation’s Three Courses show along with Gabi Powel, who joined me a couple of weeks ago. Leiner talks about meeting fellow FIU alumni and World Golf Hall of Famer Pat Bradley, the match she and Powel played against former Pirates first-round pick Bobby Bradley and two-time World Long Drive Champion Eddie Fernandes, and the organization (Forward Tees) she and Powel started to help women get their start in the game of golf.
Vlooswyk is also helping grow the game through her golf clinics and speaking engagements. She shares how she is able to generate so much power in her golf swing, gives a tip for how to warm up properly prior to a round and also weighs in on how to straighten out a slice. We wrap up by hearing about her emotional visit to the 9/11 Memorial and what it was like teeing it up for the first time at St. Andrews.
