The high-flying duo of Samuel Poulin and Nathan Legare were at it again for the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday afternoon.

Legare broke a third-period tie and Poulin added the empty netter as a team of Penguins prospects defeated the Buffalo Sabres, 6-4, to finish in first place in the annual rookie tournament in Buffalo.

The Penguins went 2-1 in the tournament, improving on the 0-3 mark they had a year ago.

The Penguins jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second period behind two goals from power forward Anthony Angello. Sam Lafferty and Jordy Bellerive also scored for the Penguins.

The Sabres rallied with four straight goals before Legare broke the tie in the third period. Poulin, a first-rounder, and Legare, a third-rounder, were the Penguins’ top two picks in last June’s draft.
