Minor league report: Valtteri Puustinen scores in overtime as Penguins beat Bruins

An overtime goal by forward Valtteri Puustinen gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 2-1 win against the Providence Bruins at Mohegan Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday. The result extended a winning streak to four games.

Defenseman Chase Pietila recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (19-5-1-0) while forward Avery Hayes scored a regulation goal.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 24 saves on 25 shots as his record improved to 5-1-0.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Charlotte Checkers on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.


Goaltender Maxim Pavlenko made 22 saves on 24 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-1 loss to the Adirondack Thunder at Harding Mazzotti Arena in Glens Falls, N.Y.

The result dropped Pavlenko’s record to 8-5-0.

Forward Brayden Edwards scored the lone goal for Wheeling (19-5-1-0).

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Greensboro Gargoyles on Friday, 7 p.m.
