Forward Ville Koivunen had a goal and two assists for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-3 loss to the Springfield Thunderbirds at MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. on Saturday.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (28-13-5-1) also got goals from forwards Boris Katchouk and Valtteri Puustinen while goaltender Tristan Jarry saw his record fall to 6-4-0 after he made 22 saves on 26 shots.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Providence Bruins on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.


Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 42 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 2-0 shutout of the Tulsa Oilers at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

It was the first shutout of the season for Murashov, who boosted his record to 16-6-1.

Forward Eli Lieffers and defenseman Mats Lindgren each scored goals for Wheeling (31-16-2-0), which snapped a four-game losing streak (0-4-0).
