Minor league report: Penguins fall to Phantoms in overtime

Forwards Jordy Bellerive and Nick Schilkey each had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who lost their fourth consecutive game, a 5-4 overtime road defeat at the hands of the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms in Allentown, Pa. on Sunday.

Defenseman Zach Trotman recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (5-4-3-1) while forwards Jonathan Gruden and Drew O’Connor each added goals. Goaltender Shane Starrett made 18 saves on 23 shots in the defeat.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday, 7 p.m.

Defenseman Matt Miller had two goals and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 6-4 home loss to the Wichita Thunder at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Forward Jacob Hayhurst recorded two assists for Wheeling (9-21-5-0) while goaltender Taran Kozun made 27 saves on 32 shots in the defeat.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Florida Everblades on Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.
