Minor league report: Nailers open season with loss to Fuel

The Wheeling Nailers opened the 2020-21 season with a 3-2 home loss to the Indy Fuel on Saturday at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Goaltender Shane Starrett made 23 saves on 26 shots in the defeat while defenseman Chad Duchesne and forward Michael Joly scored for Wheeling.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is at home on Friday against the Orlando Solar Bears, 7:10 p.m.
