In his season debut at the American Hockey League level, goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 23 saves on 27 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-0 road loss to the Hartford Wolf Pack at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. on Friday.

The Pittsburgh Penguins’ second-round pick (No. 52 overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft, Blomqvist signed a three-year entry-level contract on April 5 after spending the majority of the 2022-23 season with Karpat of the Liiga in his native Finland.

Former Penguins goaltender Louis Domingue made 28 saves for Hartford as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (26-32-7-6) was shut out for the second consecutive game.

The Penguins’ season finale is a home contest against the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.

Goaltender Brad Barone made 31 saves on 35 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 5-2 road loss to the Iowa Heartlanders at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.

Forward David Jankowski recorded two assists for Wheeling (28-36-5-0) while forwards Cédric Desruisseaux and Brooklyn Kalmikov each contributed goals.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ regular season finale is a road contest against the Heartlanders on Saturday, 8:05 p.m.
