Minor league report: Bellerive, Di Pauli lead Penguins past Checkers

Forwards Jordy Bellerive and Thomas Di Pauli each had two goals for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-2 road win against the Charlotte Checkers at Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday.

The Penguins (22-16-3-4) got two assists from forward Joseph Blandisi as well while goaltender Emil Larmi made 24 saves in the victory which was the Penguins’ fourth consecutive.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is at home against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday, 7:05 p.m.

Goaltender Alex D’Orio made 28 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-1 home win against the Cincinnati Cyclones at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling

Forward Michael Kim had a goal and an assist for the Nailers (18-18-5-0), who snapped a three-game losing streak, while forward Brandon Hawkins recorded three assists.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is at home against the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.
