A day after leaving a game during the first quarter because of a pectoral injury, Pittsburgh Steelers starting left guard Matt Feiler was placed on injured reserve.

Per the rules of IR in place for the 2020 season, Feiler cannot return to action until the playoffs at the earliest. A pending unrestricted free agent, Feiler started at right tackle for the Steelers for 1½ seasons before being moved inside this past summer. He played all but four of the Steelers’ offensive snaps this season before his injury during Sunday’s loss at the Buffalo Bills.

Rookie Kevin Dotson replaced Feiler, but Dotson left the game during the second half because of a pectoral injury of his own. J.C. Hassenauer finished the game at left guard for the Steelers, who lost their second consecutive after beginning the season 11-0.

There was no immediate word on the significance of the injury to Dotson, the Steelers’ fourth-round pick.

All that’s left on the Steelers’ roster among interior offensive linemen is 2019 seventh-round pick Derwin Gray, whose background is at tackle. The offensive linemen on the practice squad, Anthony Coyle and Brandon Walton, are listed tackles.

Taking Feiler’s spot on the active roster is outside linebacker Cassius Marsh. Signed by the Steelers last week off of the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad, Marsh has played 91 games with nine starts for four teams in a career that began in 2014.
