Malik Ellison is the latest member of the Pitt basketball program to leave the team.

Ellison is expected to graduate this spring and transfer from Pitt, the university announced Wednesday. He has one season of eligibility remaining.

Pitt announced on Monday that sophomore guard Khameron Davis also will transfer.

That makes four players from the 2018-19 team to transfer after Shamiel Stevenson and Peace Ilegomah left during the recently completed season.

Ellison, of Voorhees, N.J., transferred to Pitt from St. John’s two years ago to play for Kevin Stallings. While sitting out the 2017-18 season, the 6-foot-6 guard was cited by Stallings as one of the best players in practice.

This season, he started 16 of 31 games and averaged 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists a game. He averaged 21 minutes per game, but only 17.8 in ACC games.

His transfer come shortly after Pitt received commitments from high school forwards Gerald Drumgoole and Justin Champagne.

Pitt is expected to return four starters, with guards Xavier Johnson and Trey McGowens and forwards Terrell Brown, Kene Chukwuka and Au’Diese Toney among those who started at least 16 games last season.

At the moment, coach Jeff Capel has four available scholarships to give for next season.
