The Pittsburgh Pirates have the worst chance of winning the 2021 World Series, according to oddsmakers.

The Pirates face 300-1 odds by BetOnline.ag, which had them at 100-1 odds this past season. The world champion Los Angeles Dodgers again are the favorites in 2021, at 9-2 odds, followed by the New York Yankees (13-2), San Diego Padres (8-1), Tampa Bay Rays (10-1) and Atlanta Braves (12-1).

Oddschecker.com also lists the Pirates as the biggest longshot, at 350-1, carrying an implied chance of just 0.28%. They also are projected as the worst bet in the National League, at 200-1 odds or a .50% chance.

“After 19 wins in the shortened 60-game MLB season, an MLB worst, it’s no wonder the Pirates have the longest 2021 World Series odds,” OddsChecker spokesman Pete Watt said in a statement. “Their two best players, Josh Bell and Gregory Polanco, were terrible in 2020 and give fans no reason to be optimistic. The farm system has some promise, but guys like Nick Gonzales, Liover Peguero and Quinn Priester most likely won’t be ready for the big leagues in 2021.”
