Joe Lewandowski is bringing home the gold.

The Point Park men’s basketball coach took Team USA to Amsterdam this week for the FIBA 3x3 World Cup and the Americans finished with a perfect 7-0 record to win the championship.

The U.S. team captured the title for the first time in its fifth try after an 18-14 victory over Latvia (5-2) in the gold medal game. That win followed a 22-8 semifinal victory over Poland (5-2).

The U.S. claimed the silver medal in 2016.

Robbie Hummel, who played at Purdue, earned MVP honors after scoring 46 points and grabbing 31 rebounds in the tournament.

Other team members are: Kareem Maddox, Damon Huffman and Canyon Barry.

Team USA outscored its opponents, 141-77 and shot 50 percent from the field as a team. The team earned an automatic bid to the 2020 FIBA 3x3 Olympic qualifying tournament in the spring at a time and site to be determined.
