Fans look on during the Outlaws Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway on July 20, 2021.

Lernerville Speedway will host a high-stakes sprint car evening race late in the 2023 season that will pay out $50,000 to the winner.

The Commonwealth Clash on the High Limit Sprint Car Series schedule is set for Tuesday, Sept. 26, and is the highest-paying sprint car event ever held at Lernerville.

Lernerville will host the event in conjunction with Kyle Larson, NASCAR Cup Series champion; and Brad Sweet, defending World of Outlaws Sprint Series champion and two-time Commonwealth Clash winner.

Larson and Sweet founded the High Limit Series, a new mid-week sprint car series, in July 2022, and it will feature a 12-race schedule this season.

“Our mission is to help sprint car racing become bigger and better,” Larson said in a release announcing the race and its arrival at Lernerville. “The High Limit Sprint Car Series will not only create more opportunities for sprint car drivers to race mid-week shows for big money, but also give dirt track fans more great racing to attend.”

The High Limit Series also will have $50,000-to-win races in California, Missouri, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, South Dakota, Nebraska and New Jersey.

Indiana’s Lincoln Park Speedway hosted the series’ first event Aug. 16, which payed out $22,022 to the winner. A second series stop at Wayne County Speedway in Ohio scheduled for Sept. 27 with nearly 40 cars in the field and a $32,000-to-win payout was canceled because of bad weather.

“We’re very excited to be able to work with Kyle (Larson), Brad (Sweet), Josh (Peterman) and the entire High Limit Series group to bring the ‘Commonwealth Clash’ back for the drivers and fans,’ Lernerville Speedway general manager Jason Shank said.

“To be able to have the ‘Clash’ be a premier event on the High Limit schedule is something that both the track and the series are very proud of, and we look forward to putting on the best event possible for the fans and drivers.”
