Knapp falls in finals of Senior Match Play

Lehigh Country Club’s Bob Beck defeated Sean Knapp of Hannastown Golf Club, 2 up, in the final of the 13th Pennsylvania Senior Amateur Match Play Championship presented by LECOM at Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley.

Knapp took a 1up lead on No. 1 with a birdie, but Beck rebounded and tied the match on the third hole and took the 2 up lead before Knapp, an Oakmont resident, rallied and tied the match on No. 16.

But Beck took the crown by winning the final two holes with a par and a birdie.

White Manor Country Club’s Don Donatoni successfully defended his Super-Senior division title by defeating Paul Schlachter of Bridgeville, 2 up, in the final.

Donatoni took the lead for good on No. 4 with a par. He led by as much as 3 up during the round.
