Katie Miller moved on in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur with a pair of match-play wins on Tuesday.

Miller, a Hempfield graduate and former mini-tour pro, birdied the 18th hole to force extra golf and then made another birdie on the 19th hole to hold off Mallory Hetzel of Virginia Beach in the Round of 32 in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Not long after, Miller played a steady match in the Round of 16 to take down Alexandra Schilling of Rochester, Minn., 2 and 1. She made birdies on holes 12, 13 and 16 to finally gain separation from Schilling after the match was all square through 11 holes.

Miller will take on either Meghan Stasi of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., or Gina Bamberger of Murrieta,Calif. in Wednesday morning’s quarterfinals.
