Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was forced out of Sunday’s game after absorbing a hit on the first snap from scrimmage of the second half of a matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Rodgers had a cut on his nose. He missed one series but returned.

Rodgers was playing for the first time since suffering a fracture in his left (non-throwing) hand in the Steelers’ prior home game, Nov. 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

On the play in which he sustained the laceration, Rodgers was hit from behind by Buffalo’s Joey Bosa. Rodgers fumbled, and the ball was picked up by Christian Benford and returned for 17 yards for a Buffalo touchdown that gave the Bills a 10-7 lead.

Rodgers remained on the grass for several moments and was attended to by training personnel before retreating into the blue medical tent on the Steelers’ sideline.

Mason Rudolph replaced him at quarterback. On his fourth (and final) snap, Rudolph threw an interception to Benford.
