Virginia redshirt senior Bridget Guy defended her ACC women’s pole vault title at her home facility Friday night.

Guy’s winning height was 14 feet, 2 inches, her best of the season. She won the 2018 title with a jump of 14-7 1/2.

The Hempfield graduate entered the event seeded third. She was a WPIAL and PIAA Class AAA champion in 2014.

Guy made huge leaps in her heights after her sophomore season at Virginia.

She was the first Virginia female to win the ACC pole vault title. She became an All-American in 2018 when she finished fourth at the NCAA Division I Championships.

Guy and Kyle Guy were honored as Virginia’s top male and female athletes for the 2018-19 academic year at the Hoos Choice Awards on May 1.
