Greensburg’s Rocco Mediate advances in U.S. Senior Open; Knapp, Cooper do not

Rocco Mediate will playing this weekend.

That’s because the Greensburg native made the cut at the USGA U.S. Senior Open on Friday at Notre Dame’s Warren Golf course in South Bend, Ind.

Mediate shot a 1-under par 69 and is 1-over for the tournament. He is tied for 53rd.

Two other local golfers — Oakmont’s Sean Knapp and McKeesport’s Brian Cooper — failed to make the cut.

Knapp shot an 8-over par 78 and finished at 9-over. Cooper shot a 3-over par 73 and finished at 7-over.

Knapp will be back in action Monday at the West Penn Amateur at Oakmont Country Club.
