Franklin Regional grad Palmer Jackson wins 1st match at USGA Junior Amateur

Palmer Jackson used a strong back nine and rallied to defeat Gordon Sargent, 3&1, in the United States Golf Association’s Junior Amateur Championship on Wednesday at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

The 2019 Franklin Regional graduate was ranked 28th in the Match Play event after shooting a 144 in qualifying.

He’ll face Michael Thorbjornsen in the Round of 32 Thursday morning.

Thorbjornsen, seeded fifth, defeated Phichaksn Malchon, 5&4, in his match.
