In eight games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last season, defenseman Peter DiLiberatore scored two goals.

Former Penguins defensive prospect Peter DiLiberatore has signed a professional tryout contract with the Arizona Coyotes.

Cap Friendly reported the transaction Wednesday.

DiLiberatore was the final free agent who finished the 2022-23 season under an NHL contract with the Penguins to sign with another team this offseason.

Acquired in a trade that sent forward Teddy Blueger to the Vegas Golden Knights on March 1, the 23-year-old DiLiberatore never played at the NHL level for the Penguins and was relegated to either Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League or Wheeling of the ECHL.

In eight games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the left-hander had two goals. Appearing in five games with Wheeling, DiLiberatore (6-foot, 185 pounds) had one assist.

Having completed a three-year entry-level contract he signed with the Golden Knights, DiLiberatore entered the offseason as a pending restricted free agent but the Penguins declined to tender a qualifying offer, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
