Olivia Zambruno put together quite a week on the other side of the state at the 83rd Pennsylvania Golf Association Women’s Amateur.

But she came out on the wrong side of the final match.

The former three-time PIAA champion from Greensburg Central Catholic reached Saturday’s 18-hole final in the championship flight and, despite a back-nine rally that pushed a former college teammate to the brink, she settled for a runner-up finish.

Zambruno trailed Jackie Rogowicz, a player who once hovered a few spots above her on the roster at Penn State, 3-down with four holes to go at Phildelphia Cricket Club’s Militia Hill course.

Zambruno, an incoming Penn State junior who never led in the final, won holes 15 and 17 to narrow the gap to one but Rogowicz, a recent Penn State grad, made par on the 18th to seal the 1-up victory.

“It was fun playing against Jackie since we’re such good friends from playing at Penn State together,” Zambruno told pagolf.org. “We kept it pretty light out there and had some good conversation going.”
