Former Cal (Pa.), Slippery Rock standouts named to All-Decade team

A quartet of former WPIAL football players are in elite company.
Cal (Pa.) products Rontez Miles and Eric Kush, along with Slippery Rock’s Brandon Fusco and Marcus Martin, were selected to the D2Football.com All-Decade Team on Tuesday.
Miles, a 2012 grad, was a first-team selection at defensive back. Kush, also a 2012 graduate, was picked to the second team as an offensive lineman.
They helped Cal (Pa.) to three straight trips to the NCAA playoffs, posting a 39-12 record and 24-4 mark in the PSAC West. The Vulcans were one of three PSAC teams to have a representative on the team.
Slippery Rock’s Fusco and Martin were second-team All-Decade Team selections. Bloomsburg’s Franklyn Quiteh was a first-team pick.
Miles (Woodland Hills) was a two-time D2Football.com All-American. He had 257 tackles and 10 interceptions in 50 career games. He was tabbed the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year as a junior and senior.
Miles signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and has played seven seasons in the NFL, all with the Jets.
Kush (Chartiers Valley) was an All-American as a senior after starting 32 games over his final three seasons. He was an All-PSAC West first-team selection and participated in the East-West Shrine Game in Tampa, Fla., after his senior season.
He was selected in the sixth-round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs and has played for eight teams during a seven-year NFL career. He spent last season with the Cleveland Browns and recently signed with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Fusco (Seneca Valley) was drafted in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He was an All-American as a junior and senior at the Rock, and he competed in the Senior Bowl. He has spent time with the Vikings, Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers. He is a free agent.
Martin (West Mifflin) graduated as the NCAA’s all-time leader in sacks with 56 and is Division II’s all-time leader in career tackles for a loss (92 1/2). He was the NCAA Division II Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and the PSAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2015, ‘16 and ‘17. He was a four-time All-American at Slippery Rock. He was signed to the Los Angeles Rams practice squad in 2018.
