Tuesday’s “First Call” has an interesting list of names that the Pittsburgh Steelers are speaking with in advance of the NFL Draft. We have an update on the Cameron Sutton situation, and a former Penguin continues to light the lamp in Columbus.

‘Welcome to tahn’

It looks like Malachi Corley was in Pittsburgh on Monday, presumably for a pre-draft visit with the Steelers. The Western Kentucky wide receiver posted about his trip to Western Pa. on Instagram.

Back in March, CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards reported that Corley was going to have a pre-draft visit with the organization as well as seven other teams.

In his time as a Hilltopper, Corley had 259 catches, 3,035 yards and 29 touchdowns.

At 5-foot-11, 207 pounds, Corley is rated as the 15th-best wide receiver in the draft and the No. 82 overall prospect, according to ESPN.com.

On the town in Tuscaloosa

Prior to Alabama’s Pro Day, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin met with three members of the Crimson Tide.

That’s according to former Steelers player-turned-scout Ike Taylor. During a recent episode of his “Bleav in Steelers podcast” (with host Mark Bergin), Taylor disclosed that Tomlin had dinner with potential first-round picks Dallas Turner (edge rusher), Terrion Arnold (cornerback) and Kool-Aid McKinstry (cornerback) last month.

“Terrion, you’re talking about a guy who needs a microphone in front of his face and a camera in front of his face 24/7, that’s him, all day every day, and that’s just natural,” Taylor said via SteelersNow.com. “He ain’t even trying. That’s just him.”

Arnold is the second-rated corner on the board according to ESPN.com. McKinstry is the sixth. Turner is the top-rated outside linebacker and the No. 6 overall selection according to ESPN projections.

‘Bama also boasts ESPN’s third-ranked tackle in the draft. That’s JC Latham. He is 6-foot-6, 342 pounds. The Steelers previously met with him at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Charges reduced

Here is the latest update on Cameron Sutton, via the Associated Press. On Monday, the former Steelers defensive back was formally charged with misdemeanor battery in Florida.

If convicted, that charge could carry a maximum one-year jail sentence. Earlier this month, an initial arrest warrant charged him with a felony.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the 29-year-old Sutton turned himself in at a jail in Tampa on Sunday night. That was a week after the office said his attorney informed authorities the former Detroit Lions and Steelers player would turn himself in.

The state attorney’s office said Sutton was released from jail Monday on his own recognizance. The sheriff’s department responded to a call about domestic violence in progress involving Sutton and a female around 5 a.m. March 7.

In the wake of the warrant being issued, the Lions released Sutton on March 21.

Take note of Nylander

Alex Nylander just keeps scoring in Columbus. The former Penguin had two more goals for the Blue Jackets on Monday night as they upset the Colorado Avalanche, 4-1.

Nylander now has 10 goals in 17 games since being acquired in late February.

In 14 career games with the Penguins, Nylander had just one goal and one assist. He was dealt to Columbus for Emil Bemström on Feb. 23. Bemström scored his second goal as a Penguin on Monday night against the New York Rangers, as Pittsburgh won 5-2.

Nylander has now tied his previous career high for goals in a season with 10 during 2019-20 with the Chicago Blackhawks.
