First Call: Guess who's going to Colin Kaepernick's workout; Antonio Brown a chef?
In Thursday’s “First Call,” the Patriots are in on the Colin Kaepernick workout. Antonio Brown has some mad culinary skills. And the Washington Capitals are red hot.
Kap and the Pats
‘Pfft! C’mon. Who is really going to be interested in attending Colin Kaepernick’s workout?
I mean, after all, he hasn’t played since 2016 and….
….oh.
According to a league source, the #Patriots will have a representative at QB Colin Kaepernick's workout Saturday in Atlanta.

It just has that feel, doesn’t it? You see that the New England Patriots are interested and, all of the sudden, now the workout feels legit, right?
That still doesn’t mean I want to see the Steelers get involved in this dog and pony show, though.
But I do like the idea TribLive colleague Mark Madden expressed on 105.9 the X. Why not have Antonio Brown be Kaepernick’s receiver at his workout in Atlanta?
How funny would it be if Brown walked away with a job but Kaepernick didn’t?
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that “the NFL will not provide a list of personnel executives and coaches who will attend Kaepernick’s workout Saturday to the quarterback’s representatives.”
The network reports that coaches for the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals plan to be at the workout.
Chef A.B.
Speaking of Antonio Brown, he may have found his career after football.
Becoming a YouTube chef.
I have to say it. That looks quite good, A.B. Nothing better than “when the food is talking back to you.”
And very practical, too, since Brown isn’t very keen on paying those that cook for him.
Brown isn’t alone. It appears another former Steeler, Shamarko Thomas, wants to show off his talent in the kitchen.
Lesser of two evils?
Ah, there’s nothing better than when the Philadelphia Flyers lose!
Well, I’d rather watch when someone besides the Washington Capitals beats them. But that’s what happened last night when the Caps grabbed a 2-1 shootout win.
T.J. Oshie did what he always seems to do in a shootout.

And then Evgeny Kuznetsov polished off the game.

Washington is now 8-0-2 in its last 10 games. The Capitals have 32 points. That’s the most in the NHL.
The Flyers have 23 points, one more than the Penguins for third place in the Metro Division.
Bring on the Bison
Duquesne’s men’s basketball team has won its first two games. Their third contest of 2019-20 will be against Lipscomb University.
The Bison were 29-8 last year. They went to the NIT Final.
But coach Lennie Acuff’s team has had a rough start this year. It lost at the buzzer to Tennessee State Tuesday.

That was just a few days after another last-minute loss to Middle Tennessee.
