Antonio Brown is clearly trying to worm his way back into the National Football League.

Specifically, by trying to get back into the good graces of the New England Patriots and team owner Robert Kraft.

Brown posted this… uh… “heartfelt” apology to Robert Kraft for the early season chaos he caused that resulted in his release.

The funniest thing about Brown’s apology to Kraft? At the end, he wrote “Sincerely AB.”

Ha! A.B. has never been sincere about an apology in his life!

The running joke in Pittsburgh during his time here was that annually he would lead the NFL in four categories.

1. Receptions

2. Receiving yards

3. Receiving touchdowns

4. Apologies

Every Monday he’d apologize for something dumb that he did. Then, the next Sunday he’d do something else even more stupid.

That’ll happen again if New England takes him back once the NFL clears him for a return, regardless of whether or not Tom Brady liked the tweet.

But since A.B. is in the mood, how about lobbing a few more apologies? Perhaps send similar messages to…

Raiders general manager Mike Mayock: For allegedly threatening him and calling him a cracker.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger: For publicly criticizing him on numerous occasions, up to and including referencing unproven rape allegations against him.

Steelers owner Art Rooney II: For suggesting Rooney II never cared about him as a player.

JuJu Smith-Schuster: For ripping him about his 2018 fumble versus the Saints.

Emmanuel Sanders and Bruce Arians: For bashing both of them in a Twitter screed back in January.

Why stop there?

Maybe he could tweet out to that chef he hired and then stiffed. And that little kid he allegedly almost hit with furniture thrown from his balcony. And the reporters he threatened or called racist.

Oh, can’t forget about the doctor he didn’t pay and then farted on.

Here’s one more.

Perhaps he could apologize this “sincerely” to those who have accused him of sexual assault. At least apologize for allegedly intimidating one of them, if not for what he was accused of doing… if he really did it.

After all, those last transgressions are why he’s not playing in the league right now. Not because he jabbed Kraft online and created some brief turmoil in New England.

But I’m not going to expect Brown to “sincerely” understand that.

Meanwhile, Brown is reportedly optimistic about his chances of returning to the field soon.

Via ProFootballTalk.com, “Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Brown remains hopeful that a decision will come ‘very soon.’ There’s a sense of optimism from Brown’s perspective that he will be cleared to return to the NFL before the 2019 regular season ends.”

Brown had his interview with the NFL last Thursday in South Florida about the sexual assault allegations levied against him and the accusation that he threatened one of those who lodged the complaint.

The Penguins honored Jim Rutherford’s Hall of Fame induction on Tuesday night, creating a bobblehead doll of him.

Next year’s class may have a few former Penguins in it who, unlike Rutherford, did not have the lasting legacy in Pittsburgh that they did elsewhere.

Marian Hossa and Jarome Iginla.

Well, they both have legacies, just maybe not as positive.

Here’s a look at their chances.

Former Penguin Derek Grant, now playing with the Anaheim Ducks, gets to name his friend’s unborn child.

Why? Because he scored a hat trick Sunday against St. Louis.

It was a bet he and his friend made over the summer during a round of golf. And, apparently, the other couple is going to go through with it and let Grant name the kid.

Hey, Derek, here are two names I’d avoid if it’s a boy: “Myles” and “Garrett.”

Probably best to avoid them if it’s a girl, too.

And lastly, anyone else catch this save from Marc-Andre Fleury Tuesday night?

That preserved the lead and Vegas won 4-2.
