Pitt’s basketball programs will not have fans at its upcoming home games at the Petersen Events Center after updated covid-19 safety regulations were announced by Gov. Tom Wolf’s office Thursday.

Pitt’s men’s team is scheduled to host Gardner-Webb at 4 p.m. Saturday and the women’s team is set to host Clemson at noon Saturday.

The regulations go into effect at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and last through Jan. 4.

“While saddened by this news, the safety of teams, fans and employees at the University of Pittsburgh remain the top priority,” the school said in a press release.
