The United States Golf Association’a 121st U.S. Amateur Championship will be hosted by Oakmont Country Club and Longue Vue Club this week. Here are some facts and figures for the event:
Stroke play (both courses): Monday and Tuesday
Match play (Oakmont Country Club): Wednesday through Sunday

Top contenders
1. Keita Nakajima, Japan
• He won the Japan Amateur in July after a second-place finish in 2019.
2. Pierceson Coody, United States
• This is the University of Texas junior’s third consecutive U.S. Amateur. He won the 118th Western Amateur.
3. Ludvig Aberg, Sweden
• He is a first-team All-American and All-Big 12 selection at Texas Tech. This is his second U.S. Amateur.
4. Alex Fitzpatrick, Great Britain
• The Wake Forest senior earned first-team All-America and All-ACC honors. This is his fourth U.S. Amateur.
5. Ricky Castillo, United States
• This Florida sophomore was a member of the 2021 Walker Cup team. This is his fourth U.S. Amateur.
6. David Puig Currus, Spain
• The Arizona State sophomore won two college events this past spring and recently finished third in the European Amateur.
7. Cole Hammer, United States
• The University of Texas junior competed in the 149th Open Championship last month. He’s competed in 13 USGA events, including three Opens.
8. Taiga Sugihara, Japan
• He won the Ryo Ishikawa Everyone PROJECT Challenge and took second at the Tohoku Amateur.
9. Ren Yonezswa, Japan
• He won the Kanto Collegiate Championship and the Tohoku Amateur Championship in 2019.
10. Sam Bennett, United States
• This is the Texas A&M junior’s second U.S. Amateur. He made the Round of 16 in 2020.
11. Sam Choi, Republic of Korea
• The University of New Mexico junior tied for first in the Mountain West Conference championship.
12. Stewart Hagestad, United States
• The Newport Beach, Calif., native was low amateur at the 2017 Masters. He reached the quarterfinals at the 2020 U.S. Amateur.

Tickets
Fans can purchase tickets for the match play rounds of the 121st U.S. Amateur Championship. There is a weekly ticket option for all five days of match play Wednesday-Sunday. Daily tickets, priced at $25 per day, also are available.
Both ticket options are available at usamateur.org. Daily tickets also can be obtained at the main admissions gate, located at the former Oakmont East golf course, and only can be purchased by credit card. The weekly and daily ticket options include free parking at Oakmont East’s Lot B. Youths 17 and younger will receive free admission when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
