Anthony Monroe drove in three runs, and Bushy Run rolled to a 13-4 victory Saturday against St. Michael in the Pennsylvania American Legion Region 7 tournament at Claysburg.

Chuck Fontana, Jonny Lovre and Colton Tyburski each had two hits, and Brody Hoffman and Tyburski had doubles.

Bushy Run took advantage of 14 walks and swiped nine bases. Nine of the free passes scored.

Hoffman’s two-run double in the second inning gave Bushy Run the lead for good.

Rob Andrews was the winning pitcher. He allowed six hits, walked one and struck out one.

Bushy Run faces Philipsburg 4:05 p.m. Sunday.

Bedford 4, Latrobe 0 — Kaden Emerick tossed a two-hit shutout as Bedford surprised District 31 champion Latrobe.

Bedford scored two runs in the first inning and added two more in the fourth. It banged out eight hits, including two each by Reece Musselman, Ky Decker and Eion Snider. One of Musselman’s hits was a double. Emerick walked four and struck out one.

“We had some hard outs, but we just couldn’t cash in,” Latrobe assistant Zach Bush said. “They punched us in the mouth in the first inning, and we didn’t bounce back.”

Haden Sierocky took the loss.

Latrobe will face Murrysville 1:05 p.m. Sunday in an elimination game.

Philipsburg 9, Hempfield East 3 — Hempfield East allowed four unearned runs and dropped a game to the Central-Penn champ.

Philipsburg built a 6-0 lead before the Hempfield East bats came alive in the fifth inning.

Hempfield East trimmed the lead to 6-3, but Philipsburg scored three more in the seventh inning to ice the game.

Lukas Colton had two hits and three RBIs for Philipsburg.

“We gave them too many runs with costly errors, and we didn’t start scoring until late,” Hempfield East coach Jason Willis said. “Hopefully we’ll bounce back.”

Conner Burkey, Liam Randolph and Peyton Chismar each had two hits. Burkey and Randolph hit doubles.

Claysburg 5, Murrysville 4 — Claysburg rallied from a 4-0 deficit to stun Murrysville.

Claysburg, the host, tallied three runs in the sixth inning to tie the score and then walked it off in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Claysburg will face Bedford, while Murrysville faces Latrobe at 1:05 p.m.

Region 6 — Belle Vernon advanced to the winner’s bracket championship game by defeating Ambridge, 6-2, on Saturday at Blackhawk.

It will face Connellsville 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Chippewa Field in Beaver Falls.

Blackhawk and Ambridge will play at 2:30 p.m. The winner faces the Connellsville/Belle Vernon loser at 5:30 p.m.
