MOON TOWNSHIP — Alvaro Folgueiras scored 27 points as Robert Morris beat St. Francis (Pa.), 90-77, on Saturday for the Colonials’ second win in a row.
Folgueiras added 16 rebounds, four steals and three blocks for the Colonials (8-5). He entered the game averaging 11.7 points and 10.4 rebounds.
“He got it going for us,” Robert Morris coach Andy Toole said. “He was the guy that really turned the tide of the game. He made some plays offensively. He made some basket-saving plays defensively. Obviously, he’s been on the glass all season long, and he was again tonight, and we were able to play through him a lot.”
Kam Woods added 19 points while shooting 7 for 16 (2 for 6 from 3-point range) and 3 of 7 from the free-throw line. He also had seven assists and three steals. Amarion Dickerson had 16 points and shot 5 of 8 from the field and 5 for 7 from the line.
“In the second half, our energy was much better,” Toole said. “We were able to defend a little more aggressively, and I think that led to us being able to win the game by turning them over 19 times.”
The Red Flash (3-9) were led in scoring by Riley Parker, who finished with 21 points. St. Francis also got 19 points and three steals from Juan Cranford Jr. Valentino Pinedo had 14 points.
Robert Morris and St. Francis previously competed in the Northeast Conference and were meeting for the 93rd time Saturday at UPMC Events Center. The Colonials, now in the Horizon League, hold a 55-38 lead in the series dating to 1978.
