The ACC laid three-year groundwork Thursday for its new 20-game basketball season, starting in 2019-2020, running at least through 2021-22 and giving each team annual home-and-away series against six opponents.
Pitt will continue to play what ACC officials term as its primary rivals, Louisville and Syracuse, twice for each of the next three seasons. The other four home-and-away opponents will rotate every year, so by the end of the three seasons each team will have played every ACC foe twice a year at least once. Pitt’s four next season will be Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami and North Carolina. The remaining eight contests will be single games against Boston College, Clemson, Virginia and Wake Forest at Petersen Events Center and Duke, N.C. State, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech on the road.
In 2020-21, Pitt’s repeat opponents will be Clemson, Duke, N.C. State and Wake Forest. Single games will be contested at home against Florida State, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech. Pitt’s road schedule will include games at Boston College, Georgia Tech, Miami and Virginia.
In the final year of the plan, Pitt’s repeat opponents will be Boston College, Notre Dame, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Pitt will serve as the host for single games against Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami and N.C. State and will visit Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina and Wake Forest.
