3ICE, a hockey league that involves three-on-three play, will return for a third season this spring and summer.
Using a format similar to a golf tour by playing on weekends, the league’s 2024 schedule begins on June 12 and lasts until Aug. 14.
The penultimate date on the schedule will feature a stop at PPG Paints Arena on Aug. 7.
For the first time, teams will be affixed to a specific city. A Pittsburgh team will be coached by former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Joe Mullen.
Former Penguins forward John LeClair (Tennessee) and defenseman Larry Murphy (Minnesota) will also serve as coaches.
Steve Mears, currently the radio play-by-play voice for the Penguins, and former Penguins forward Bob Errey will serve as the television broadcasters for the third consecutive season.
3ICE is the creation of E.J. Johnston, the son of former Penguins general manager and coach Eddie Johnston.
Follow the Penguins all season long.
